DONATIONS

The United States Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters through a variety of activities. Since 1992, the tax- exempt, nonprofit Foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers.

The Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, located in Emmitsburg, Maryland. It is registered as a corporation in the State of Maryland. The Foundation receives funding through private donations from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations.

Donations: The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation relies on donations to provide direct assistance and support to the survivors of America's fallen fire heroes. Donations are used in a variety of ways. Your tax-deductible donation can:

 * Help families attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend during which their loved one will be honored. A family with financial difficulty can then be a part of this healing Weekend.

* Sponsor Family Day activities during the Memorial Weekend. Cover the cost of supplies for the children's groups and special keepsakes for children who have lost special firefighters.

* Underwrite a scholarship for the child or spouse of a fallen firefighter from your state. Chances are, that family was depending on the firefighter's income for educational expenses. This helps ensure that those dreams of college and career will still be possible.

* Support the Foundation's Fire Service Survivor Support Network, which puts survivors in touch with one another. Only another survivor can truly understand what it is like to lose a beloved firefighter, and this contact is often a lifeline for survivors who are struggling.

* Expand the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The Memorial was built in 1981 and plaques around it only list the names of firefighters who died in the line of duty from that year forward. We would like to expand our efforts so we can include firefighters who died in the line of duty before that date.

* Provide special resources to help fire service personnel deal with the loss of a firefighter. You can help ensure that fire chiefs and firefighters have the support they need as quickly as possible.

In addition, the Foundation has established special programs to provide long-term emotional support to the survivors of the Fire Department of New York members killed in the line of duty in the September 11 tragedy.

The mission of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is to generate increased public support for the law enforcement profession by permanently recording and appropriately commemorating the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers; and to provide information that will help promote law enforcement safety.

Thank you for supporting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. With your help today, we will be able to continue to honor the over 15,000 officers whose names are engraved on the Memorial in Washington, D.C. Your support will also allow us to prepare for those officers whose names we will regrettably have to add to the Memorial in the future.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund charges no admission and receives no government or taxpayer support. We rely solely on the generosity of grateful citizens to maintain the national monument honoring our fallen officers.

That is why it is so important to have your support today. Please click here to make a tax-deductible donation of $10, $15, $25 or more to help us remember those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice keeping America safe.
